Most of the businesses in Georgetown have sponsored us in the past, and it is only the generosity of their sponsorship that has made it possible to do this year after year.

If you frequent bars in the Georgetown area, and you should, you will be pleased to know that they are staunch supporters of this show, as are many of the other businesses in the area. Tonight, after about nine, we will know who is prepared to step up, and they will be listed as an accomplice/sponsor HERE.

Over the next few weeks, as we gear up, we will need volunteers. Calls for volunteers will be posted to the hazardfanatics list, the only official communication channel for hf activities.

It is located here: http://groups.google.com/group/hazardfanatics?lnk=srg

you will need to have or create a google account to join. Click on the "join group" link to proceed.

You know as much as I do, I’d never even heard of them before today. I think they must be mostly Boeing engineers and tool repair-shop guys, but i had no idea that we were on thier Radar.

Apparently, they have already hear about the upcoming Power Tool Drag Race at Artopia on August 26th in Georgetown.

They came out of nowhere, they talked about lubrication and duty cycle and over-volting and proper bush maintainance and wear patterns and internal arcing. It made my head hurt, BADLY!

listening to them yammer on about things I’ve never heard of in their crisp white coveralls, with their snazzy aluminum clipboards.

I was alone at Hazardfactory, when I heard a polite knock at the door, I knew instantly something was wrong, but somehow, I let them in anyway. It must have been the hypnotic almost sophorific look in their cold dead boring eyes.

They locked on to me, droning in some wierd lecture hall chant. Clean, Lubricate, R.t.f.m.! over and over.

Finally, in desperation, I jammed a fully functioning 13 amp black and decker grinder under the cleaner (three phase chop saw) and threatened to cut it into tiny pieces.

They backed out the door, muttering somewhat impolite maintainace schedules and rolling thier eyes aggressivley.

Hands, still shaking. I need a drink…..

The answer is of course, we are DOING IT AGAIN!

Expect to not know exactly what hit you or why your insurance company thinks that this is not covered under your policy.

The Trophies are ready and looking exceptionally massive this year. If you expect to win, a handtruck, or perhaps your own moving company might not be a bad idea.

Glory may be fleeting, but a hernia is forever.
Watch this space for upcoming build times!

Three marching bands, four or five hundred guests, Three kegs, two half barrels, two birthdays, two cakes, five quarts of white gas, fifty games of flaming-tetherball. (so freaking sore)

A good time had by all.

So? So what? It was just a party………………

I think of these kinds of events in a very specific way. It is situational.
Here we are in an unkind world, itself a flyspeck of consciousness in the howling void of the cosmos, mortality knocking on the door like a Jehovahs witness, ground like flour between the millstones of convention and capitalism, a cough or two away from abject poverty.

That’s the world. It is unbeautiful. Beauty is an artifice, a focused act of will, a meaningful or meaningless distraction, a cranefly, a gossamer fragility, counting it’s seconds on the wing. Beauty is a choice, a decision, and it enables joy. It’s a pre-requisite.

Joy and beauty, hilarity and the movement of many bodies in a room thrumming, booming echoing with the vigor of life.

This is the strangely fragrant sleeping bag that shelters us under the open sky and makes the grand unfolding of the stars a thing of wonder
instead of the raving terror of an endless void.

And so we put bodies together in a room and move them, and somehow this is beautiful, and somehow, for a while, everything else is too. That’s the point.

Thanks everyone for attending. When next we see you, it will be dangerous, and you won’t understand it. I promise.

Also, footage of the Coyote School kids hacking up bicycles will be airing tonight. If the sight of a little kid making lots of sparks makes you happy, don’t miss it.

Friday, 4/2/10 the “Art Zone” episode featuring the Coyote school kids doing bike hacking hits the air at 8:00 PM on Seattle Channel 21. The show will repeat later that evening, many times over the following week, (www.seattlechannel.org/schedule), and, of course, will stream online: www.seattlechannel.org/artzone

We also air on KCTS Channel 9 on Wednesday’s @ 7:00 PM. This episode will air on KCTS next Wednesday, 4/7 @ 7:00.

I’m sure you all remember Nancy Guppy from the interview she did at the power tool drag races in 2008.
She does great work and is very supportive of the Seattle Arts scene, she is also Sids’ favorite comidieane.
