We will be building steel "Bridges" and testing them till they fail catastrophically. The gross weight of the bridge will be compared to the load at failure to produce a strength to weight ratio. The team to achieve the highest strength to weight ratio WINS! We call this the Kobayashi Maru class.

This course is one of three month-long courses that we offer. The coursework is complementary but NOT sequential. We priced this to reflect the fact that most people will miss at least one date, and the last Saturday is intended as a make-up class. No other concession is available if you miss a day.

Are you interested in metal working but don’t know where to start? Come to our “make a flower” class! This is a great introduction to multiple kinds of metal working such as MIG welding, cold-metal forming techniques, and general tool use. No experience required.

In this class we will work with 18 gauge sheet metal. We will weld autmotive sheet metal and do some sanding and grinding. It is a good idea to bring a dust mask, (a covid type mask will work fine). This is an introduction, you may wish to repeat the class to get some practice.

This class is a parent and kid activity. Kids must be at least 13. You will be shown how to use these tools in a safe, fun way. Emphasis is on fun rather than technical instruction. Mig and plasma cutting equipment will be used.

We have worked with several architecture firms to give the architects the opportunity to try different forms of welding. This has helped them develop a deeper understanding of how to design welded components for fabricators.
