About the Event
Metalssori school modules are intended to supplement the education of younger students who will not have access to their standard school curriculum for the remainder of the Calendar year.
Each module is twenty hours of class time, Monday through Friday for four hours, plus a brief at-home assignment.
We will enroll not more than ten students per class. Class is open to clients aged fourteen and up. Clients will be asked to help us comply with current CDC regulations which may include wearing a face mask and appropriate social distancing.
In this module, Students will learn how to operate robotic cutting equipment to create art. Tuition includes a material budget of three square feet of 16 guage steel. We will supply additional project materials supplied by pacific industrial (206) 682-2100 at cost. The Plasma cutting system we are using has a 3/8" (.375" or 9.5 mm) cutting capacity. It can cut conventional metals, steel and aluminum are the most typical materials used on a cnc plasma table.
Students will learn techniques for welding steel to support their project goals, and they will have access to MIG welding equipment. We do not teach aluminum welding in this class.
Drawing and drafting are central to this work. We will teach computer assisted design work as a portion of this class.
Students will be asked to research and design as their at-home work.
Students will be asked to develop projects based on personal interest. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with other clients on their projects.
Students should bring a lunch, snacks, and wear warm, shop appropriate clothing. Parents will be asked to sign waivers on the behalf of students younger than 18 years old.
