About the Event
Building a power tool drag racer can be either simple or complex depending on your design.
Your goal is to buld a race-tool that will make it down the track with a certain amount of style, speed and grace. Creativity counts a lot and trophies are awarded based on a variety of arbitrary criteria, if it makes us laugh, cry, or fear for our safety, it is likely to win a trophy.
Bree Pettis made this excellent instructional video to help explain the idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLJKM19v6hg
The easiest racer to build would be based around a belt sander, grinders are a bit harder to work with, drills can be a bit tricky, chainsaws work reasonably well.
Your tool will need some some way to stay aligned in the track. Your racer is also likely to require a platform with wheels to allow it to achieve decent speed down the track.
