About the Event
We teach more beginners than any other welding school on the West Coast. The best way to learn TIG is to start with MIG. We insist that clients take at least the MIG welding intensive before taking this class for a very specific reason. Your brain is not accustomed to looking at high intensity light. When you first weld, you will feel like you can't see the arc . This is not entirely accurate. You can see the arc, but your brain cannot interpret it because it has not spent much time staring at high energy discharge previously. If you take the MIG intensive FIRST! you will be much much better prepared for the additional challenges and complexities of tig welding because your brain will have adjusted to looking at an arc and you will be able to "see it" better, (it's much more a question of processing than perception). We are in a much better position to guarantee your success if you have spent at least 5-10 hours welding before attending the Tig intensive. In this class we will teach you how to use a variety of tig machines to weld ferrous materials in flat, butted, and fillet positions and get you started with this awesome, versatile process. We can try a variety of materials, but Aluminum is taught in the TIG PLUS class, which you should schedule immediately after taking the TIG intensive. Tig does not create dangerous spatter, wear a tux and tails, heels and a whalebone skirt, both? Why not! It's up to you.Â
