Women's MIG Welding Intensive 2/2/20 10 am to 3 pm

This class is an opportunity to get welding instruction from a woman, in the company of other women. This should not be a big deal, but it is. Welding tends to be pretty misogynistic and we are happy to subtract that from your experience.

About the Event

This class is an opportunity to get welding instruction from a woman,  in the company of other women. This should not be a big deal, but it is. Welding tends to be pretty misogynistic and we are happy to subtract that from your experience.

This class does not otherwise significantly diverge from what is taught in the mig welding intensive.

M.I.G. welding is the easiest type of welding to perform.

The equipment is straight-forward and safe.

This class will show you how to operate these machines safely and competently. This is the preferred style of welding for general fabrication and repair. It works well for furniture building, sculpture, and automotive restoration as well as construction and home improvement applications.

We teach thousands of beginners how to MIG weld every  year. We offer the easiest, most thorough and fun way to learn this intensely useful skill.

We know exactly what problems you will face as you learn MIG and can show you how to develop this skill as quickly and easily as possible.

The workshop fee includes all shop materials and equipment, just show up in long pants and sturdy non-sneaker shoes.

This class is for complete beginners and intermediates, no prior experience is necessary.

If you are not a novice you will be taught more advanced techniques and theory and given more challenging exercises..

Our class size is 10 max, this allows us to offer more personalized and focused instruction than a community college with classes of typically 30 to 50 people. We are very able to work with people at wildly differing levels of expertise in this and all our classes.

WHAT TO BRING:

We provide all gear needed for welding, includes gloves and a welding helmet.

Dress as if you were outside. Wear long sleeves and pants that you don’t mind getting dirty. White is never in fashion here.

Clothing should be composed of natural fibers (cotton, wool, etc). Synthetic materials (nylon) have the potential to melt in dangerous ways.

You must wear shop appropriate shoes that have solid cotton or leather uppers. Work boots are preferred, but sneakers without nylon/synthetic tops are fine.

Bring a full water bottle, snacks (if you like), and a lunch for longer classes.
